Sweet cherry 'Lapins'

Sweet cherry ( Prunus avium ), a variety created in Canada, one of the finest sweet cherry varieties in the world.

The trees grow strongly, the crown is wide pyramidal, upright with medium-thick branching. The winter hardiness of the trees and the winter hardiness of the flower buds in the Dobele area is low. The variety is very productive, in our conditions the variety's resistance to fungal diseases (mainly stone tree leaf blight) is medium or even low, it deteriorates under adverse conditions during the wintering and growth of the trees. A self-fertile variety, therefore it does not need to be planted nearby with a pollinating variety that blooms at the same time, and the variety pollinates other sweet cherry varieties well.
The fruits are very attractive, large, kidney-shaped, their average weight is 8 - 9 g. The skin of the fruit is smooth, shiny, dark red. The flesh of the fruit is dark red, cartilaginous, juicy, sweet, exceptionally tasty, the juice is dark red.

In the Dobele area, it ripens in the second decade of July. Self-fertile, large, dense, very tasty fruits. Low winter hardiness of trees and flower buds, fruits crack if it rains during their ripening.
