Daudzpusīgais Zemzars

The lilac of a versatile personality: the painter UldisZemzars.

Uldis Zemzars was a dear friend of PēterisUpītis, who got to know this creative and versatile person – a painter and a writer, and the author of many books – while accompanying the writer ZigmundsSkujiņš on a visit to Zemzars' garden. UldisZemzars has painted two portraits of PēterisUpītis, one of them depicting a thistle, the plant whose seeds Upītis offered him. The purple-violet lilacs named after Zemzars stand in the lilac garden as a tribute to this eternal friendship. The cultivar is characterised by large blossoms and inflorescences, and it blossoms abundantly.
