The living legacy of Pēteris Upītis today - the continuation of horticultural science and the garden
"The personality of gardener Pēteris Upītis (1896–1976) has been unusual and bright not only in his field, but also more broadly — among the writers, artists, musicians and other intellectuals of his time. The garden he created holds not only the secrets of the lilacs, cherries, apricots, apples and many other varieties he created, but also his spiritual heritage."
The employees of the Horticultural Institute continue to keep the values and ideas of P. Upītis alive today, both in the garden of the Horticultural Institute and in the premises of the Horticultural Museum named after P. Upītis.
A video and publication about the Pēteris Upītis Horticultural Museum and Garden have been created as part of the ICOM Latvia project “Landscape Musealization” of Latvian Personalities in Museums, financially supported by the State Cultural Capital Fund .
