P. Upītis - the outstanding gardener and master
The Pēteris Upītis Horticultural Museum offers an introduction to a powerful personality, one of Latvia's most outstanding breeders, Pēteris Upītis (1896-1976), providing an idea of the beginnings of professional gardening in Dobele and the gardener's legacy today.
The museum, in close collaboration with the Institute of Horticulture, offers visitors to visit the garden, learn about research directions, learn about the Latvian fruit tree gene pool and traditional vegetable collection, go on educational excursions, attend lifelong learning programs and tastings.
The museum and garden are an important cultural space in Latvia, where synergy between science and art has long been formed, therefore, even today, every year during the flowering of the largest collection of lilacs in Europe, it is possible to experience a diverse range of cultural events for different audiences.
