'The Volatile Dream'
One of the rare two-tone lilacs.
Pēteris Upītis has said: “Those who work with seedlings need patience. Those who do not have patience should not engage in fruit growing, but should buy rockets and organize fireworks. The effect will be achieved immediately.” One of the indicators of the patience of a lilac breeder is the rare lilac varieties obtained. Only a few varieties of bicolor lilac have been bred in the world, and the Lilac Garden of the Horticultural Institute can boast three of them. Of these, two lilac varieties were bred by Pēteris Upītis.
'Vaist Dream' is a lilac with medium-sized inflorescences, pale pink-purple flowers with a white border. Sometimes this variety has individual white flowers or flower parts visible in the inflorescences.
