'The Hardworking Dunker'

A dedication to a persistent and creative personality – Oļģerts Dunkeras.

Pēteris Upītis had a good friendship with Latvian actor Oļģerts Dunkeras. Pēteris visited Oļģerts in Vidzeme, where a small lilac garden was created from lilacs donated by Pēteris Upītis.

One day, while visiting Pēteris Upītis with Latvian actor Kārlis Sebris, Upītis announced that he would dedicate the new lilac variety to Oļģerts: "I thought 'Film Director Dunkers' would be the right one, but a couple of days ago Uldis Zemzaris was here and suggested 'Diligent Dunkers'. He said he liked your perseverance and determination in film work. That's why this lilac is the one."
