Varieties catalog created by the Institute of Horticulture for commercial and home gardens
Scientists at the Institute of Horticulture have created a variety catalog with Institute of Horticulture varieties for commercial gardens and home gardens - 2024 .
The catalog contains information about 16 apple varieties, 4 pear varieties, 3 plum varieties, 4 sweet cherry varieties, 4 apricot varieties, 5 quince varieties, 2 raspberry varieties, as well as one each of blackcurrant, melon, winter garlic and family onion.
In 2024, 40 varieties were registered and protected in the name of the Institute of Horticulture, another 30 varieties were submitted for registration, see information in the " Register of Protected Plant Varieties of Latvia ". In order to propagate these varieties, nurseries must enter into a license agreement with the Institute of Horticulture.
