Discovery of the lilac variety 'Vilis Plūdons'
In March 2024, the outstanding Zemgale poet Vilis Plūdonis will turn 150! In honor of the poet's anniversary, a new lilac variety 'Vilis Plūdons' has been released from the lilac hybrids of breeder Pēteris Upītis.
Now, the familiar landscape of “Lejenieki” will be decorated not only with the historically planted lilacs, but also with a lilac dedicated to the poet, which will bloom every spring on Vilis Day.
